Visit Eger In Hungary

Eger was not to visit on our list of places where we planned to visit the Hungarian countryside. We were brought in the wine region of Tokaj.

When we were discussing with other fans of Tokay, they told us we should visit Eger and taste of red wine from the region as a bull's blood known.

Can we resist?

This is a small town can be reached by a train two hours from Budapest, but we actually went on our adventure Hungarian wine. First, find the beautiful tasting known only outside the city, including the Valley of the Beautiful women or mermaids Valley.

Since we do not have a card, we had to stop and ask for help from the locals ... and they were so useful that they told us to follow them, and they took us right! Only the next day we made our way around town.

It is a small town with narrow medieval streets, a castle on the hill above the town, and intoxicating history. It was when the Turks besieged the castle of Eger Bulls Blood or blood of a bull that wine was born. The area is known for its robust reds.... Yes, bull's blood, but the town itself is charming.

Unlike wine, Eger is the claim to fame, against all odds, she said, taking a seat for the Ottoman expansion into Western Europe. He was tried by the castle on the hill, were more likely than Hungary ... and the wine they drank bull's blood was the legendary or bull's blood.

You can use the castle. There are museums inside, but the pleasure is to walk the park and enjoy the view over the city.

He is one of the oldest and most colorful small towns in Hungary. The old city center is what is of interest to tourists. There are several nice stroll cobblestone streets and Dobo, Dobo Square is a nice place to stop at a sidewalk café and enjoy a bite to eat. Here you will visit churches and photograph many beautiful Baroque buildings.

Discover the fun indoor market. Find the minaret of the Turkish occupation (the year after the blood of the bull head was breaking incident.) There is also an old University City high school, where you can visit the library and observatory.

And you can drive or take a tourist train in the valley of beautiful women in the wine tasting Bull blood sample in the cellar, the Valley Line.

Stay in the city or the valley of beautiful women. You can explore the city of Budapest by train or driving as we do. Hotels are useful and easy to find.

If you travel to Budapest, why not a little variety, and explore Eger.... and taste the blood of a small bull ... just for show.
